HOW TO CREATE A UNIQUE CHRISTMAS

HOW TO CREATE A UNIQUE CHRISTMAS

Whether you love it or loathe it, for most people there is no escaping Christmas and all the commercialism it brings with it. If you are looking for a change from the normal, mass-produced Christmas decorations, cards and wrapping paper there are some simple ways of making this year’s Christmas truly unique.

Here are our simple tips for creating a unique Christmas

GET CRAFTY WITH YOUR DECORATIONS

Christmas decorations can be fun and bring some festivity into your home. However, using mass produced shop-bought decorations can easily lead to your home lacking in individuality and personality. One way to avoid this is to get crafty and make your own Christmas decorations. From making your own tree decorations to wreaths for your front door, there are lots of ways of creating your own Christmas decorations which will not only make your home look festive, but also add your own unique personality as well.

MAKE PERSONALISED CARDS

Christmas is still one of the few times when it is nice to go traditional over digital and send Christmas cards. After all who doesn’t love to come home after a long day at work to find a card waiting for them? Going one step further and making your own Christmas cards makes the process of card sending even more personal. Making your Christmas cards does not have to be time consuming or expensive, in fact there are ways of using rubber stamps to make the whole process easier (we’ve even written a blog post on how to do it!).

DESIGN YOUR OWN WRAPPING PAPER

Along with your own Christmas cards, why not create your own wrapping paper as well? This not only give you the opportunity of creating a festive theme for your wrapping paper unique to you, but also enables you to adapt your wrapping paper to appeal to the personality of the person for whom the gift is to be given. This is especially fun for children’s gifts and helps to make Christmas Day that little bit more special for them.

INDULGE IN BAKING

Christmas would not be Christmas without some indulgent food. While the shops are always full of mince pies, festive yule logs and Christmas cakes; making your own is not only more fun but tastier as well! Whether you are a keen baker or rarely step into the kitchen, Christmas is the perfect time to indulge in a little bit of home baking and make your own festive themed biscuits, cookies, mince pies and cupcakes. As well as being easy to make these are a perfect way of getting children involved in the build up to Christmas and means they have a tasty treat to enjoy as well.

Christmas is a fun and frivolous time of year, which makes it the ideal time to get creative and crafty to ensure your Christmas a truly unique and special time that will provide festive memories for years to come.
